It was created by Guido van Rossum and first released in 1991. Pyodbc is an open source Python module that makes accessing ODBC databases simple. It implements the DB API 2.0 specification. This tutorial shows Python 3.6.1 and pyodbc working with the 64-bit Progress DataDirect Connect64 for ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver. As a first step, get familiar with the basic concepts of Oracle-Python connectivity. Among the core principles of Python's way of doing things there is a rule about having high-level interfaces to APIs. The Database API (in this case the Oracle API) is one example.

I'm trying to import cxOracle in Python and getting an. ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified procedure could not be found. This post suggests that there's a mismatch between the bits of cxOracle and the Oracle Client, but I don't believe that's the case in my situation. I downloaded cxOracle for 64-bit Python 3.5 from the Unofficial Windows Binaries page and have confirmed that the. CxOracle is a Python extension module that enables access to Oracle Database. It conforms to the Python database API 2.0 specification with a considerable number of additions and a couple of exclusions. CxOracle 8 has been tested with Python versions 3.6 through 3.9. Older versions of cxOracle may be used with previous Python releases.
